About Me

Hey Everyone,

My name is Jake Jensen and I am an Associate Attorney at Kelly & Bramwell P.C. in Draper Utah. I recently graduated from Texas A&M University School of Law as well as recently passed the Utah Bar. I live in Utah with my wonderful wife Breanne and our incredible daughter Peyton. They are the joys of my life and I love spending as much time as I can with them. We are surrounded here in Utah by family and friends which keeps us busy at all times.

Employment Law is a passion of mine because employment affects each of our lives. Our employment affects where we live, how we live, what we have, what we do, and in a sense who we are. Many people in today's society are judged by what they do, which isn't fair, but it's the truth. The worst part is that unless we are working for ourselves, we can work our hardest and still be out of a job with absolutely no control of our own. That is what happened to me:

After graduating from law school, my family and I moved to Utah so we could be around family. After taking and passing the Utah Bar, I had no job, no job prospects, and after a few months, no motivation to keep looking. It honestly felt that my law degree was a waste of time. However, I knew I had to support my family somehow, so i took my law degree and became a custodial worker in my local school district. During the mornings I would continue looking for legal jobs, while in the afternoons and evenings I would work as a custodial worker. The people in the school district always joked that they had the "most overqualified custodian in the state." Though it was not what I wanted to be doing with my life, I learned how to be a hard worker and an better people-person. Thankfully in December of last year, I found a legal job that though didn't pay amazingly, taught me so much about being a lawyer and a good person. I will forever be grateful to that attorney who gave me a chance when no one else would. A few months later, I ended up where I am now, wanting to help those that may have suffered wrongful termination, discrimination, or unpaid wages.

Though none of that happened to me, I have spent the majority of my law career focusing solely on employment matters that involve wrongful termination and unpaid wage claims. Hundreds of people either are wrongfully terminated or are not paid the amount that they should be by their employer. The problem is that most people do not realize that is the case and those that do realize it do not know where to turn to in order to find the best results possible. I know the Top Employment Lawyer in the state of Utah and I know that with his help and mine, those of you who feel like they are being mistreated at work, through discrimination, or those who have been mistreated while leaving work (i.e. wrongfully terminated, unpaid wages, etc.) can have peace.

This blog will go into detail about the different employment laws there are both federal and state. It will detail the process one must go through in order to sue an employer as well as good cases and bad cases.

I hope that through this blog and if necessary a free consultation, we can navigate these laws together to reach a goal that is attainable with the proper legal help.

Regards,

Jake "The Employment Law Guy" Jensen
